Friday Fabric Favorites- Halloween edition

Hancock Fabrics had all Halloween fabric 75% off this week. I got the email Sunday night and went out on Monday between my classes to check it out. I'm glad I didn't put it off until the weekend because by the time I got there it was already slim pickings. I had to wait behind two older women to scout out the bolts they had hoarded up and hope that there would be enough left over for me. Above are just a few of the fabrics that I bought to do a coin quilt. Everything together, including backing, cost a grand total of $12. That's an insanely good bargain. I've been piecing the top bit by bit in between homework and studying and am anticipating finishing it up either tonight or sometime over the weekend. I love the combination of orange, purple, bright green, and black. I also made some Halloween bunting out of felt I had laying around. It's a different method than the one shown in the link, so I will be putting up a tutorial in the next few days. It's so cute that I'm thinking about leaving it up year round.  Also on my weekend to do list: carve pumpkins and think about putting together something like this. It's a shame I didn't start decorating for Halloween earlier and only have a week or so left to enjoy all the things, but I think I could get away with leaving a pumpkin table runner out past Halloween.

  1. I nabbed about a yard of the purple bat fabric right before Halloween and I still haven't decided what to do with it. I just couldn't help myself, even without a plan. ^^ The pattern for the coin quilt looks adorable, I can't wait to see yours.

  2. I have the bad habit of buying fabric without any specific plan. Sometimes they're on sale or just to cute to resist.
I love the simplicity of the coin quilt, but cutting/sewing long lines are the bane of my existence. I could have easily pieced the top before Halloween, but I ended up getting halfway there and giving up. I'll have to pull it out this week and try again.
